Whatever you’ve done today, whatever you’ve achieved, it probably won’t be as good as what this guy did, sorry!
I’m joking, obviously. But it’s still really impressive.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a platform game that was released to the Sega Master System 2 back in 1986. And the story goes a little something like:
“Your name is Alex Kidd. You have courage. A karate chop that shatters rocks. And a big job to do. You learn that the mysterious city Radactian is in great danger. All your skills and talents are desperately needed to help. But there’s a catch: how do you get there? Your only clues are a puzzling map and a medallion made of Sunstone. Will that be enough to solve the riddle of the pathway? You face the obstacles. Solve the mysteries. Learn the secrets as you go along. But there’s high adventure around every corner. It takes a Kidd like you handle a challenge like this.”
But what makes this game stand out from all the others? Well it’s quite simple really.
When this game was released, cartridges ruled the gaming world. However, because Sega went and built the game into most Master System 2 models, it became intrinsically linked to the Sega console. It was critically acclaimed at the time, to an almost universal level, and because of this, it was one of the most popular games on the Master System 2.
Many people would often buy the Master System 2 just to play Alex Kidd, and because of all of this, cartridges of the game are as rare as gold dust now.
It’s still thought of very highly today, with IGN saying in their retro review of the game: “an exceptional platformer with loads of action and some great puzzle-solving challenges” that “still holds up remarkably well.”
And because people still play it, mainly through the miracle of emulators, people still know how difficult it is. Usually, if you’re good and lucky, you can get through the game in anywhere between 35 minutes to an hour.
But one guy has done what no one thought was possible. He has completed Alex Kidd in Miracle World in a matter of minutes!
See for yourself in the video below, it is amazing!
