Peter Kay has hinted that there may still be life in his hit TV sitcom, Car Share
The 44-year old comic from Bolton interviewed with ITV’s Granada Reports to discuss his Dance of Life charity event.
The comedian will be taking on the role of DJ as fans enjoy three hours of non-stop dance tracks from the past forty years.
Kay has already seen huge success when hosting Dance for Life in the past, raising more than £50,000 to date.
The comedian is again encouraging people to donate and raise money for Cancer Research as part of the event.
Upon speaking with ITV’s Granada Reports, questions cropped up surrounding the notion of a return of his fan-favourite TV shows, such as Phoenix Nights and most recently, Car Share – which finished with main characters John and Kayleigh going their separate ways completely against the narrative to which their blossoming romance was heading.
Fans of the show were devastated when the pair didn’t hook up and demanded a third series be produced – with a petition also being set up and thousands signing it.
However Kay confirmed on BBC Radio Manchester that Car Share was finished and not even a Christmas Special would be produced, but the idea of Phoenix Nights making a comeback has potential.
This could all have been a cover up though, as Kay diverts his fans’ attentions to Dance for Life whilst he plots a surprise comeback.
During the interview with ITV, Peter revealed: “I’m not saying it might not never come back,” before being jokingly scored “Now you’re backtracking” by his interviewer.
However Kay quickly bounced back with: “No, no I’m not saying that and I’ve never said that about Phoenix Nights.
“But I can’t see it coming back soon”
Fans remain hopeful that one day John Redmond and Kayleigh Kitson will return to TV screens and finally embrace their budding romance together.
