For the longest time, video games have always seemed to find a happy medium between family entertainment and something for the kids, and more mature, adult content.

Let’s face it, even back in the day with games like Resident Evil, or more recently with games like Grand Theft Auto, we always played games as kids that we shouldn’t have been able to get our hands on. And because of that, a lot of us have grown up with violent and terrifying video games acting as the backbone of our fondest childhood memories. Funny, isn’t it?

But when games strive for mature, adult oriented content, violent, sweary and sh*t-your-pants scary aren’t the only avenues to explore. What about a more top-shelf variety? For the modern generation, I’ll translate: how about more of a ‘disable parental shield’ variety?

Yes, sex and video games have flirted with one another more than once over the years, but developers tend to shy away from it these days, apart from the odd exception.

Games tended to be raunchier back in the day, but because of modern advances, and how we’ve all grown to expect them, raunch in older games won’t exactly have you turning the pictures of Jesus around these days. But still, they had their day.

So, what are the 10 sexiest video games of all time? Well, I’m very glad you asked. We’re going to lay them out for you. Let’s take a look!

  1. Heavy Rain (2010)

    YouTube

Heavy Rain, released in 2010, is a PS3-exlusive game developed by Quantic Dreamer and is often described as an ‘interactive drama’, in which players switch between four main characters and try and catch the elusive Origami Killer.

The game is known for its cutting-edge graphics (that still look pretty impressive, seven years on) and its cinematic feel that was made possible by motion capture technology and a game engine that supported real-time rendering. Heavy Rain is also known for its realistic and attractive characters that can engage in long, interactive sex scenes, where players control the character’s movements to erm, well, I’ll leave the rest up to you, you dirty birdies.

  1. L.A Noire (2011)

    The AV Club

There’s something just so sexy and dangerous about those classic film noirs from the 1940s and 1950s, and that is exactly what LA Noire, released by the juggernaut that is Rockstar Games in 2011, attempted to tap into with this detective game.

Like the films, the game is complete with fedoras, gangsters and beautiful femme fatales. The player takes the role of private eye Cole Phelps, as he travels through Los Angeles solving cases. Often, he has to interrogate suspects and hunt down clues, and that’s where the graphics of this game shine.

Characters’ faces are so richly designed that players can notice glances, twitches and winces to help in determining lies and clues. There are many different definitions of what makes a sexy game, and in terms of the classic, Golden Age of Hollywood, film noir “look here, see” sexiness, of dirty, gritty sexiness, this game is oozing with it.

  1. BioShock Infinite (2013)

    Giant Bomb

Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite’s player takes on the role of Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton agent who is sent to the floating air city of Columbia to find and rescue a young woman named Elizabeth.

She acts as an AI sidekick of sorts, but rather than getting in the way or adding dead weight to the story, as most AI sidekicks, and therefore escort missions do, Elizabeth ends up playing a big part in the arc of the game, while also being nice to look at. The graphics and world are great, and the chemistry packed relationship built between Booker and Elizabeth is largely why BioShock Infinite is listed on the sexiest games.

  1. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (2011)

    Wanuxi

The Witcher 2 was developed by CD Projekt RED and released in 2011 to critical acclaim. Players take on the role of Gerait, a witcher by trade (which essentially means a licensed monster killer), who travels along with Triss Merigold, his beautiful love interest.

Some games give you the impression of sexiness, but this game doesn’t go in for any of that subtlety b***ocks, and god bless them for it.

There is plenty of life-like nudity, sex and personality in this deftly realised and corrupt world, with multiple paths, storylines and multiple endings. It’s a sexy game, and that ain’t no lie!

  1. Luxuria Superbia (2013)

    Hardcore Gamer

Luxuria Superbia is a sleek, sumptuous game on the Steam network, and this is a game designed for less of the overt idea of sexiness, and more for the existential side of sexiness. At a glance, it looks like the climax of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it is also self-described, quite sensuously I might add, as a “simple game of touch, pleasure and joy made for fingers on touchscreens and joysticks on computers.”

The game is a strange musical journey through exciting tunnels (good lord) and exploding designs (good heavens!). As you glide through the tunnels with your fingers (I know!), the designs react to your gestures and explode into beautiful hearts, flowers, and other things.

The wonderfully strange music is mixed in real-time as you play. The sensuous interactive experience looks like the cut-away montage from a 70s film as to people get it on, and the intense experience between fingers and computer begs to be played, although no one can really pin down just why it is so exhilarating or addicting. It seems like one of those things that doesn’t look like much, but when you actually play it, you then get what people are talking about.

There are some theories about what the soft, pink imagery evokes, and as a result why it feels so sexy to play. Can you take a guess?
